How to use
- Drop a video file in the area above. The original resolution, length and bitrate are shown.
- Target size mode sets the output file size in MB. Use it when sending to places with upload limits (chat apps, forums, email).
- By quality mode lets you pick a quality level, and the size follows from it.
- Lower the resolution if needed, then click Start compression.
Tips for good results
- A target size that is too small makes the picture blocky. For a 1-minute video, about 15 MB for 720p and 30 MB for 1080p works well.
- If the target size is small, lower the resolution too. At the same size, 720p often looks sharper than 1080p.
- This tool encodes in the browser, so it is slower than desktop software. Videos longer than 10 minutes take a long time.
FAQ
The result is bigger than the original.
This can happen when the original is already compressed efficiently. Set a smaller target size or lower the resolution.
Compression is very slow.
Set the encoding speed to Fast. It is 2 to 3 times faster, but quality drops a little at the same size.
The output size is a little off the target.
The video is encoded in a single pass, so the size can differ from the target by a few percent. If the limit is strict, set the target a little lower.
