Which format should I use?
| Format | Notes |
|---|---|
| GIF | Plays everywhere. Limited to 256 colors, so files are large and color banding can appear. |
| WEBP | Much smaller than GIF at the same quality. Plays in most modern browsers, Discord and Telegram. |
| APNG | No color loss, but the largest files. Good for short stickers and emotes. |
How to make files smaller
File size grows with width × number of frames. A width of 480 px, 12 to 15 frames per second and a length under 5 seconds stays within the upload limits of most chat apps and forums.
